How to Host a Webflow Site on GitHub Pages Without Rebuilding It
Export a Webflow site with ExFlow, decide what to do with CMS content, and publish the static files to GitHub Pages.
If you want to move a Webflow site to GitHub Pages, the cleanest path is to export static files first and only then decide how the site should be published. I use ExFlow.site for this because it turns the handoff into a static package or a Git sync instead of a rebuild.
Webflow’s own help docs separate code export from CMS content export, and GitHub Pages is built to publish static files from a repository. That means the move has two separate decisions: what to export, and where the exported files should live. ExFlow helps with the first part, and GitHub Pages handles the second.
What You Need To Check First
Before you export anything, look at the site as two layers:
- The static layer: pages, CSS, JavaScript, and images that should survive the move.
- The content layer: CMS collections, blog posts, localized content, and anything that depends on structured data.
If the site is a simple marketing build, this is usually straightforward. If it depends on collection pages, forms, member areas, or anything that expects a server-side backend, write that down before you export. The goal is not to guess later.

Export The Site With ExFlow
Open ExFlow.site, paste the Webflow URL, and choose the export options that match the site you actually want to ship. The useful settings from the product workflow are simple:
- Export CSS files, JavaScript files, and images/media files.
- Export all pages.
- Remove the Made with Webflow badge if that fits the project.
- Add custom style and script files when you need extra theme fixes or analytics.
- Use Git sync if you want the output to land directly in a repo.

Put The Export Into A Pages-Friendly Repo
GitHub Pages can publish static files that live in a repository, and it can publish from a branch or a GitHub Actions workflow. That gives you two common paths:
- Put the exported files at the repository root or in the docs folder that Pages will publish.
- Use a small build workflow if you want more control over the publish step.
If ExFlow is syncing to Git, point that sync at the repository you plan to publish. If you prefer a separate repo for the site, keep it simple and let Pages publish the exported HTML directly.
A useful detail from GitHub’s docs: Pages publishes static files that you push to the repo, so there is no mystery build layer hidden in the middle unless you add one yourself.

Treat CMS Content As A Separate Decision
This is the part that causes the most confusion. A Webflow design can export cleanly while the content underneath still needs decisions. If the site uses CMS collections, export and inspect that content before you cut over. Webflow’s CMS docs treat collection export as its own workflow, which is a good sign that you should not assume every dynamic record is already handled by the static bundle.
The practical question is simple: which collection pages should remain static, which ones should be regenerated later, and which ones should move to another content system altogether?
If the site is mostly evergreen pages with a small blog, you can often keep the exported pages as they are and handle future updates through your publishing workflow. If the site is content-heavy, pause here and design the content path before you switch traffic.

Verify The Export Before You Switch Traffic
Before you point visitors at the new host, open the exported homepage and at least one nested page. Then check the boring stuff carefully:
- Images load on a hard refresh.
- CSS paths are correct.
- JavaScript files load without console errors.
- Internal links still point where you expect.
- Any custom domain points to the right Pages source after the publish completes.
If you want the cleanest possible move, also fetch the GitHub Pages docs for the publishing source and the Webflow export docs while you check the site. They are the two references that tell you whether the static handoff is working the way you think it is.
What you should know at the end of this step: the site behaves the same way on the new host before you send real traffic there.
When This Workflow Makes Sense
This is a good fit when you want:
- Lower hosting complexity.
- A static site that lives in Git.
- A simpler deployment path for a Webflow marketing site.
- A way to keep control of the files after export.
It is not a good fit when the site depends on server-side logic that GitHub Pages cannot provide on its own. In that case, keep the static export for the design layer and put the dynamic parts somewhere else.
